Web Trends for 2010

To ring in the New Year—not to mention the new decade—we thought it would be interesting to open our first eNewsletter of 2010 with a look ahead.

Sure, it's interesting to look back at the once-ubiquitous technologies that disappeared over the last ten years: floppy discs, VCRs, answering machines, and many, many others. Likewise, we've seen the emergence of broadband and WiFi, not to mention phones that have gone from being, well, just phones to a convergence of devices we can no longer live without.

Predicting trends for the next decade is all but impossible; every few years, it seems, we're confronted by a new technology that would have sounded like so much science fiction just a few years before. Predicting what's to come this year, though? That we can try. And because we look at things a bit differently here at Julian James Advertising Design, we've put together a list of the top Facebook and Twitter Icons eleven web trends for 2010.

Social Media

This is an obvious choice, but who's to argue? Facebook and Twitter were the big stories of 2009, and their only trend seems to be upward for the time being. To quote one online source, it's a matter of "integrate or perish." The generalization is a little broad—not every business model needs or wants a social media component—but it can be an important way for businesses to reinforce their brand image. More>
